As I’am a new author still finding my feet at school visits, all my visits in the NT will be free until the end of 2022.
I have loads of enthusiasm, energy, a working with children’s card (Ochre) ,public liability insurance and am able to run a session that is tailored to the age of the audience. Below is the author visit/ presentations that I run. With all my sessions I am very flexible and happy to adapt topics to meet to specific requests from teachers.
School Visit : Process of Writing a Picture Book (tailored to the age of the audience )
Content
- Readings of one or more of my books
- Fun educational and entertaining video presentation that includes; how I write picture books from the idea to the publication itself, the difference between Fiction & non-fiction, what a story should contain (beginning ,middle & end) and few other book things.
- Generic Story Fun -Interactive activity that involves the class/group in creating a short story.
- Craft Activity- Guide the students to make a book layout ,where they can then make their own picture book in .
- Colouring-in hand outs
- Q/A
Schools are encouraged to share the author visit on social media or their school newsletters ,which would include the author’s website (https://melissakowalik.com.au) for parents, guardians & teachers whom wish to purchase signed by the author copies .
